Third-party authoritative testing and certification organizationFor the Australian market, AS/NZS ISO 8124-1: 2010 Safety requirements related to mechanical and physical properties (ISO 8124-1: 2009, MOD). This standard is based on ISO 8124-1: 2009, with the addition of changes to the Australian national standard, and specifies general safety, construction and labelling requirements for children's toys, as well as test methods.
Currently, some of the requirements in AS/NZS ISO 8124-1: 2002 are still mandatory, referenced by the Trade Practices Act Consumer Protection Notice.
In addition to retaining all existing AS/NZS ISO 8124-1:2002 requirements, the new standard adds new requirements for the following toys:
Article 3.7 Close-to-the-ear toys
Article 3.26 Hand-held toys
Article 3.50 Rattles
Article 3.60 Squeeze toys
Article 3.61 Table top, floor and cradle toys
Article 3.67 Toy scooters
Article 4.5.8 Hemispherical toys
Changes to the evaluation method for projectile toy widgets

In addition, the new standard adopts AS/NZS 62115 as the safety requirements for electric toys.
